Meet a member of our awesome team!
ROBBIN SIMI
Why did you want to volunteer with the Butterfly Club?
Wilma made me….LOL. She said: “I have a job for you, and I didn’t run away screaming. I was scared to do so. Because she would track me down.”
How long have you been with this group?
About Six months.
Your impressions?
Good, I have never been in a volunteer organization, so it,’s a little crazy and overwhelming. Ideas fly around, and I have learned to make private appointments to get my ideas and information I have gathered to the right sources.
What’s new for you?
I am learning that I have a voice amongst people that I have not known for a very long time, and they are not judging me, yet encourage me. They see potential in me I didn’t know I had.
Tell us something about you
I was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Sierra Vista for a job on Ft. Huachuca about 20 years ago. I came by myself not knowing anybody- what an adventure!
I am single and recently divorced. My hobbies are jewelry making, stained glass and anything artsy crafty, I also like to read mystery books and hiking.
I belong to a church women’s bible study group, and I also love animals and have two cats named Marmalade and Ginger.
What is your vision in the future with the Butterfly Club?
Whatever Wilma and Jo will tell me to do! (smile)
What is your position with the Butterfly Club?
I am the Outreach coordinator for the Butterfly Club. I oversee, co-ordinate and am instrumental in researching how to get donations and money from celebrities and high-profile individuals. This is a tedious yet rewarding project, and I like doing this kind of research.
Wilma has just assigned a new ‘job’ for me and is sending me to Cochise College to learn Grant Writing. I am excited and scared about that- she believes in me!
